happy independence to all!
our 4th of july weekend: moved some large items from storage for sat. garage sale and managed to find takers for enough stuff that it can be repeated again this coming weekend. i dashed over to catch the last half hour of the farmers' market and located a "we don't want to pack this stuff up and take it back, so everything here is $1/lb" table and brought home 6 lbs of ratatouille-worthy vegetables. we didn't have coals or propane for bbq, so on the 4th i added home-grown zucchini and basil, and roasted up everything, which was served with parmegiano & tortillas with queso fresco & iced tea -- cuz that's what was on hand. ben & jerry's chocolate fudge brownie (being the only premium ice cream at the clearance outlet) on a sugar cone followed. a sour baguette w/ sweet butter and a glass of sauvignon blanc would have been a slight improvement -- esp. the baguette. :-) all was devoured while seated in the back garden while a lovely fresh breeze rippled through the ficus canopy. then, for him, some telly & a nap, for me, some reading and contemplation of a nap. i moved a wind chime to better catch the breeze. i considered the other wind chimes and repairing their missing dangly things. where is the twine? i reglued the arm of a director's chair. i gorilla reglued the velcro on the knee pad of my handy-dandy step2 brand garden kneeler/seat. in the evening, we walked a 1/2 block away to a good vantage point to see vallejo's fireworks a mile away near the ferry landing/yacht harbor. we could hear the fireworks occurring simultaneously 4 miles away at six flags discovery kingdom.
during the yard sale preparation, i'd located a white board and hung it in the bedroom for english lessons. tonight's lesson: location words: e.g. side, left, behind, after, etc. (the first lesson had been tools: "shlesh hyamer"???). legend of the seeker was an episode i'd already seen. i kept falling asleep in the middle of keith olberman's podcast and waking when it stopped.
